Every night at 8:15 fulltiltpoker has a tournament that they call “the daily dollar”, and last night I decided to sit down and play it.

When I first started playing late last year I used to play this tournament pretty much every night, and occasionally I would make a couple bucks, but for the most part I would not. It had been a while since I played it, and I figured was good way to play for a couple hours for just a dollar, so I registered for the fulltiltpoker daily dollar, and wound up doing really well.

There were 8,815 players registered for the tournament and I wound up finishing in 25th place and made $30 for the night. It was a long night, and took about 7 hours to finish, but definitely felt good to come in at 25th place for the tourney. I would have liked to get to at least the final 2 tables but I will take what I can get.

I definitely got lucky on one or two pots, and had one suckout during the tournament, but all in all I was able to get my money in at the right times, and was able to steal some blinds at the right time to keep me in the game.

When it was down to just 25 players, and I was 25, I knew I had to find a good spot to shove all in. The big blind was 30,000 I think, and I had right about 130,000, so about 4X the big blind, and in serious trouble.

I folded 8 or 9 hands in a row with crap cards, and was very talkative at the table about how I was waiting for the perfect shove hand. Usually in these tournaments you move from table to table a lot, but I spent the last 300 hands at the same table, so anyone there who had been there for a while knew I was playing tight.

I hoped that they would respect the shove since they knew I was going to wait for a good hand, and when I picked up KQ spades with 4 big blinds I had no choice and shoved all in. It folded over to a big stack that had a little under a million chips and called and I was delighted to see him turn over J9 spades. I felt pretty good at this point, and was looking to double up plus take the antes, but then the flop came and this is what I saw:

Needless to say I could not catch up after the luckbox hit his full house on the flop. A good call on his part since he had such a big stack and knew unless I had a pocket pair it would basically be a coinflip to put me out,  and this time poker luck was not on my side.

I will take my $30 I won last night and take some shots at 3 $10 sngs tonight, but for now I must sleep
